Monster Network homie Dan Kircher (creator of the 'Forays' video) has continued his close ties with The Story Store by designing a shop hoodie and tee shirt. The use of burgundy gets both thumbs up! Old Chelmsford Bus Station...

(0.25MB quicktime)

We flexed our cat burglar skills back on 28th November 2004 for a final skate before the derelict Chelmsford bus station main building was due for demolition. A major Chelmsford skate spot for well over a decade, its painted curbs, stairs, little driveway and most of all its benches are still missed. Digging in the old 'Lately' tapes we found this footage of LBD skating the previously insta-bust dirty maintenance ledge as a fond fairwell. not long after in early 2005 the building was flattened. Today its an almost finished new bus station and swanky flats. Those black marble ledges out front are so so close to being a good spot too but just not quite there!

Ipswich Washout...

Sunday was all set to be an epic skate around ipswich's long forgotten skate spots thank to adam mondon's spot list. sadly the weather had other plans. once the rain finally stopped play at the skatepark, mobile phone photos were rinsed until everyone's cars formed a convoy. adam suggested a bank to wall underpass to skate which was better than it initially looked. after a few more aborted spots it was sunday lunch time, yorkies! with the collective skateboarding experience spanning 100 years you'ld think post gut-ache lunch skateboarding would obviously be ruled out as a bad idea...not so, a last hour undercover worked off a fraction of the calories before home time. a (sunny) return trip is on the cards very soon.

Dartford & Romford Skateparks...

Saturday saw the opening of essex's newest skatepark just south of the river in dartford. Paul went down to have a look and met up with mn homies Ray and Gorm for a skate. the park is a nice u shaped bowl with a raised corner and hip, etc. the street course is still under construction but looks like it will include an interesting c shaped quarter and a steep quarter to wallride. the place was packed so after saying hello to a few old friends (including long time mn friend pete king) it was decided a change of venue was required to get some skateboarding in..from essex's newest skatepark to one of its oldest, romford. at romford were dave watson, kevin parrott and si skipp plus OG colchester barn ramp local mark munson and a bunch of visitors including scottish ripper div. some fun skating went down as the sun set with the day finally ending with the indoor mini getting destroyed by the visiting scots and locals. good old romford!

p.s. gorm took the paul skate photos, check gorm's website www.gorminator.com for more photos of dartford and a bunch of other photo radness...

Wet Dry Wet Dry...

Yesterday was a weird one, one minute it was raining, the next it was drying out. and repeat. again and again. the day started with gonz taking some photos of dave's new mural in the student union at colchester institute. then a meet up with russ to go skate and take some skate snaps. at the skatepark though it was blowing a gale and after a drive to a spot the heavens opened. daffodils say spring, the weather does not. didn't stop dave getting some waterlogged tricks down and some footage and snaps. the skate photos are under wraps for the moment but here are a few others...
