Roots Reggae Radical...

(4.9MB, quicktime)

Over the years alot of spots have come and subsequently gone and one particular example is the planter banks at the Gemini Centre in Chelmsford. Originally skated first back in around 1986ish (back then also known as 'The Spot' and 'The Bricks') the spot got heavily skated in the early to mid 90s before being lost a few years later to the office's car parking requirements. The straight banks are still there and are still super fun but...just imagine skating the planter banks now! Spot R.I.P. for sure.

This rough footage was filmed on a summer evening in 1995 and features Monster Network OGs, Matt Letch, James Rands, Pete Harrison and Kevin Peacock. Filmed by Paul Gonella.

Dave Watson

Dave Watson's underground legend status is in peril...Dave has a 'Shine On' in the new issue of Kingpin Magazine and as such goes to just international legend status instead! Good work Dave! Check the Kingpin website for general European skateboarding goodness and check your local newsagents for the mag with the full page glossy snap. If you haven't picked up a copy of 'Into the Fall' (really?), you need to, Dave has some sick footage up in there.

Cheers to Adam Mondon for the heads up!

As we've mentioned before Nigel rips, and we know that something like this isnt gonna stop him, so hopefully it wont be too long before he's back out destroying Rom. Here is a clip of Nigel from a few weeks back having some more bad luck.

Grizzly Old Man of the Sea...

(21.4MB, quicktime)

A grizzly old man of the sea in general, it is only today that David Dixon has the age to go with it. Dave is now an official member of the 30+ club which means you are allowed to complain about back ache at least 3 times a day, wear tartan slippers, take afternoon naps and pull the "you kids, you don't know you're born, i remember when this was all fields and we had to quarry our own curbs and make ramps out of whale bones and mahogany" card at will. Happy Birthday David!

Not that proof is needed but Dave has always been a little handy on the wizzplankaroo. Check this part from 'Sell Your Soul' (his own video production) from 1998, so fresh faced! (Daryl has some footage in there too, killing it).

Southenders

Sunny Southend has always been a reliable source of good quality skate spots and Saturday's trip there was no exeption, blocks, bars and some seriously ghetto banks made for a productive day out in the Autumn sunshine. As usual though not enough hours in the day for all that Southend has to offer, return visit very soon!

Bored

Once a home for many a networker, Southsea's tip top skateshop 'Bored' recently had an electronic facelift. Check www.boredofsouthsea.co.uk for the new website now with online store, photos and vids (including the sick 2006 trailer). Gary (had a banger of a section in 'Lately' and also sunday roast chef par excelance) has been holding it down on the south coast for years now and built up one of the UK's finest SOS. Give him a bell or buy your goodies online, Current Monster Network favourites are the Bored shop tee's in particular the south bronx and supreme rip, both getting heavy rotation. Oh, just don't ask for a discount though, "the calculator says no"...
