Poison Pen Letter
June 10th, 2009
Back in 1996-7ish Bryony, Emmeline and Scott worked together on Trashmag, a little local magazine they put together. I was in Portsmouth at the time and thought it would be funny to send them a letter and figured they would guess who it was from, turns out they didn’t. Oops. I guess it isn’t something you can do these days without getting in a spot of bother. No Anthrax was harmed in this presentation. – Paul.
OG Crew Deep
June 5th, 2009
Was looking through some old bits and pieces the other day and found found an old posse shot of the OG MN crew back in…maybe 1995? The scan is a bit crappy but it stoked me out, we used to roll crew deep when street skating Chelmsford.

Witham visit
June 3rd, 2009
A few of us headed to Witham last night for a burn around their new bowl. We were also joined by a couple of O.G MN Chelmsford faces! Goodtimes!
Breakage
May 1st, 2009
OG legend Matt Letch sadly broke his ankle the other day, get well soon Matt. We dug out some old 1995 offcuts, back when the legs allowed matt to jump down stairs!
The London Police
April 7th, 2009
OG Monster Network homies Chaz (Chelmsford legend) and Bob Gibson (one time part owner of the best 80s jump ramp in Bicknacre) originally formed The London Police about 10 years ago when they moved to Amsterdam, since then they have travelled around the world with their iconic and unique street art. StolenSpace Gallery in east London will be hosting their latest exhibition with an opening party on Thursday night (*nudge* free beer…) and the show will run until the 26th of April. Check here for more info and be sure to catch the show if you can.
Huge props to both Chaz and Bob for their 10th anniversary show!

Chelmsford Memories
March 11th, 2009
Just wanted to mention a couple of amazing Facebook groups about Chelmsford’s past, one about The Prince of Orange pub and Chelmsford’s Wild Youth. Both groups are full of incredible photos and stories from the 70s through to now and well worth joining and getting involved…the photos of Chelmsford’s punk scene from the late 70s are simply awesome. Below are a few stolen photos from the groups, a young Matt Letch, some Chelmsford punks and The Kites…

College RIP
February 11th, 2009
One of the most loved Chelmsford street spots, the AP college in the centre of town, is set for imminent demolition. The spot was a mix of stairs, little banks, benches, walls, a brick handrail and for many years a perfect ledge. At it’s heyday in the late 80s and early to mid 90s it was heavily skated all week and didn’t have security so was bust free but things began to change with the ledge getting skate stopped, then the front stairs made un-skatable and finally the security office being located right by the main bank…after that it became a constant bust. Even though not properly skated in a long while the spot still has a fond memories for everyone.
Tucked away on the old MN archive tapes are hours of footage filmed at ‘the collage’ so for a quick memorial edit we put together some skating from just three sessions from early 1993. Below the edit are some photos of the college spot taken the other day, now fenced off ready for the bulldozers to move in on a classic Chelmsford street spot (just like they did with the bus station). RIP.
OG MN heads (at these particular sessions) in order of appearance: Chris Plumber, Jacob Davidson, Aaron Norman, Matt Letch, Paul Gonella, Adam Whitaker, Pete Harrison, Jim Rands, James O’Grady, Barry Ewers, Adam Leeds and Kevin Peacock. When we finally do the ‘We Are’ DVD boxset expect a mountain of footage from the college from everyone!
